AT&T 1856 Corded Speakerphone with Digital Answering System far exceeds expectations. Simple to operate, superb sound quality, just the right size and weight, and stylish. Great Phone-Help for Handset Falling November 21, 2008 hardy (KY) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I recently purchased the 1856 and experienced the same problem the reviewer did as listed in the comment, "warning: when you mount it on the wall, the handset slides off". Solution: the small plastic piece (less than 1"x1") located just under the handset ear piece slips out. When you slip it out, there is a small hook on one end. Turn the plastic piece around, insert it back into the phone base, and your handset will stay securely in place, even mounted on the wall. The phone works great!
Great buy October 24, 2008 Barbara Seidman (Sagamore Hills, OH) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was just what I wanted. Radio Shack had something similiar, for $135.00. Wal-Mart had something similiar, but none in the store and none on line. Amazon had just what I wanted for under $30.00. Pays to shop at Amazon.
Best home telephone available in recent years! October 8, 2008 John Doe (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Best phone on the market. Features are well done & operation is a snap. The ability to allow one button dialing is exceptional. Most phones will let you dial the first set of numbers easily with one button but if you then must dial another long string you must dial them one digit at a time!
AT&T 1856 Corded Speakerphone/Answering Machine October 13, 2008 JPH (Yukon, OK USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This unit fully lives up to its description. It is easy to install and set up. It has great clarity of sound. Even I can understand it with my 87 year old defective ears. The volume control has great latitude. I do not hesitate to recommend it for its affordable price and seemingly excellent quality and ease of use.
