1st Of All How Much Can You Get Jazzed About A Classic Band Re-Recording Their Classic Tunes ? Well I Have To Say I Was Blown Away !!! The Songs Have Never Sounded Better And For People Knocking The Current Line-Up F*#king Shut Up . Bands Move On You Can Go With Them Or Go Home . I Have To Say I Love Ace Frehley , But Tommy Thayer Really Gets To Shine On This Cd . Gene's Bass Playing Better Than How He 1st Recorded Them . Eric Singer's Druming As Always Purrrrfect . Paul Stanley Is Still The Best Singer / Front Man Ever . Take A Chance On This CD !!!!
Much better than you might think! September 28, 2008 R. Sampson (Amsterdam) 4 out of 6 found this review helpful
As a KISS fan since 1977 I wasn't sure of the point of this, but guess what? The songs sound fantastic! Even to a long time fan who knows them inside out like me!The production lifts every song and makes them sound fresher and more immediate than ever and the playing is top notch. The arrangements are very similar - although you can hear small instrumental differences particularly in the drumming and rhythm guitars - but these all sound brand new. I am so pleased I bought it. Note - the sleeve notes are in Japanese but the lyrics are printed in Japanese AND English! So if you know the songs or want to step into the KISS experience for the first time - Enjoy!
New Versions October 14, 2008 niftey 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This album is awesome, a brand new studio album with the current line up of the band: Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Eric Singer and new guitarist Tommy Thayer. The songs are new versions recorded in the studio of previous kiss classics and these new versions are fantastic. This is the first time the band have been in the studio since the "Psycho Circus" album in 1998 and could lead to a future studio album with brand new material. Some people still complain that this album doesn't feature new original songs but atleast it offers something different, and its not another compilation album.

AWESOME great to listen to the classics with an updated sound, sure some songs should have been played the way they were played live but thats KISS going against the grain. LET ME GO, ROCK AND ROLL!!!!
Classics Reworked Works For Me October 20, 2008 D. Cataldo (Chicago, IL) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
Kiss fans have been requesting a new CD from the existing band featuring founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley rounded out with Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer. In a roundabout way, they got their wish. The 2008 version of KISS has been busy touring the globe and sometime in between, they ducked into the studio to re-record some classics, most probably for licensing. With the release of the Kissology DVD set in Japan, they added something special to sweeten the deal, a CD of these re-recorded tracks. There's no question, this incarnation of the band is tight. They also did a remarkable job nailing many of the slick production tricks from the past. The got very close in reproducing the sound of the originals, only with much better production and sound quality. Standouts on this one are Love Gun, Hotter Than Hell, Forever and Lick It Up. All the tracks are pretty much exactly what you would expect and while the die hard fan will be able to pick out differences, odds are the casual fan will not notice any variation. One has to wonder if it will only be a matter of time before this is repackaged for the USA.
