Product Description
The Monster Factory Linx iCruze is one of the most exciting products Monster has ever offered. iCruze also gives you a direct connection for crystal clear sound quality. And it charges your iPod the entire time you're driving, so when you leave the car your iPod is charged up and ready to go. You'll soon be wondering how you ever got along without your iPod and iCruze in your car.

Amazon.com Product Description
The iPod has redefined the concept of mobile music, but it's never been particularly easy to use in the car thanks to compatibility problems. Monster aims to change all that with its iCruze system, which connects your iPod directly to your car's factory or aftermarket stereo to ensure topnotch audio quality. With the iCruze, you'll have access to your entire iPod song library while on the road, making your CD player a relic of a bygone era. Most listeners will need several different parts to install the iCruze, depending on the type of car stereo they own, but it all starts with this iCruze interface--the centerpiece of the system. The module, which connects the stereo to the iPod, fits compactly in the dash and installs cleanly, with no wires to cut or splice. Once installed, the module serves as the brain of the system, connecting the iPod's massive library to the play, forward, back, and pause buttons on your CD player. Users who own an Alpine brand stereo with M-Bus CD changer compatibility will have all they need with the iCruze module, but most people who own factory stereos will also require an interface cable and/or another module for proper installation. To find out which parts your car needs, consult the iCruze website at www.monstercable.com/iCruze.

5 out of 5 stars Quite Easy To Install In Honda Accord, works as advertised!   April 4, 2007

I purchased a complete set with Honda cars interface cable and LCD display. It was installed in Honda Accord vehicle. Installation is really quite simple once you have everything you need (right cable for your car, Phillips screwdriver, double stick tape, Internet access and a little patience).
I recommend searching on google for the instruction how to remove car audio pannel for your particular car to locate screws and to learn the order in which you should proceed with pannel removal. Unscrewing 3 screws, clock pannel removal and snapping the pannel out, was all it took in Honda car. All connectors are color coded and size coded so no trouble disconnecting/connecting them. I was able to plug in the Icruze honda cable to the back of the radio without the need to actually remove the factory radio. I ran the cable to the glove compartment. I used double stick tape to sit the Icruze Interface on top of the car radio, I plugged in LCD display cable and put back the panneling. Plugged in the 3rd gen iPod and it worked fine.
Since Icruze "cheats" your radion into thinking you have a 6 disk CD -changer, I created playlists in iTunes starting with numbers 1-6 so that Icruze can recognize them as "CDs". Each playlist can hold as many songs as you want, but since the radio can only display numbers up to 99, every song after that shows as 99. You switch playlists using "+/-" buttons on the radio and go to next/previous song using ">>/<<" buttons. Sound quality is far better than any FM transmitter I used. LCD display is quite nice showing song and the artist, especially at night with its blue glow. You can get the whole set for around $55 if you look around in Amazon Marketplace section. I highhly recommend it. Hope this helped! Enjoy it!

4 out of 5 stars Works great on my '99 Toyota Corolla as intended and I self-installed   December 15, 2006

Believe it or not, I was able to install this with the Monster Toyota module myself in about an hour (more on this at the bottom).

The system works fine. If your factory stereo has a CD button and a button that indicates CD changer capability (e.g. buttons to skip different discs) then this will work for you.

If you have a car CD player that's not built into the main Factory stereo, that's a definite indication that you will be able to use this.

It does have some minor quirky limitations:
1) Doesn't have a way of forwarding a rewinding a specific track. May be a problem specific to my factory stereo generation.
2. Occasionally starts in a Paused state when you return and start your car. Simply solved by powering your stereo off and on.

These limitations are why I didn't give it a 5th star. To be safe I did not get the LCD display so that I get to test the system before throwing more money into this project.

In my factory stereo, I was able to use 9 playlists so it acts like a 9-CD changer with capacity on each "virtual CD" (playlist) limited only by your determination.

All in all works as described by Monster.

Self-installed (and saved $80-100) in about an hour's time after spending a few hours researching on the internet and the local Fry's/Kragen for one electrical piece which is the T-tap connector to tap the constant power line coming to your factory stereo.

Minimum info to self install:
1. Be able to remove trims/panels and pull out your factory stereo. (easy to learn by researching on the internet or browsing thru factory repair manual at local dealer or auto parts store).
2. Know the wiring diagram / wire color coding to identify the constant power line. (research internet. For a few bucks, lots of websites will give you this info).
3. Obtain a T-tap connector and spade male connector (Fry's and Kragen carry these) to tap the power line identified in 2.
4. Put everything back in.

3 out of 5 stars Mine works okay, but...   April 27, 2006

I bought my iCruze last November because of a long trip I had coming up. I have the iCruze in my 2005 Chevy Silverado. It works as advertised, but I did receive a faulty interface. That was quickly replaced by the retailer. The bad part for me is that I paid full price for it. Now, I'm going to pick up the display on the cheap before this system goes the way of the Dodo.

For what it's worth, the sound from my iCruze is perfect. Am I the only one with a working system?

I consider this product acceptable, but not quite ready for prime time. It has several quirks which I tolerate because this is the only product out there (not interested in casette inserts or fm signal grabbers) that does most of what one would like. First, you must develop up to 6 play-lists (corresponds to the number of CDs your system is configured for). Each list is limited to 99 songs as the dashboard display on the OEM radio/CD only has 2 places. (I understand you can have more than 99 songs in the list, but there will be no display.) Secondly there is no way to go to, say song 99 without hitting your "next song" button 99 times. Sometimes this feature doesn't work and I have to switch the CD to a random mode which allows me to move sequentially through songs sometimes and randomly at others! Sometimes I have had to go back to the "iTunes" software on my computer and redo song lists. Overall unpredictable and quirky software. Be careful driving while figuring this thing out! On the positive side, the sound is great (Bose/Mercedes E320 '02)once you get used to quirks.

A big exercise in frustration. Even though our vehicle is listed as OK for use on the Monster Cable web site, it turned out to be uninstallable. The installer said it took him several tries on the Monster Cable Installer Support line, who he called "surly", to finally cop to the fact that my BMW had some "M" class features that were incompatible (this info not listed on their site). The installer also found out that the iCruz will only load Playlists up to 99 songs. The installer got it to run once very, very slowly before it locked up for good. I did some research online and found lots of people with similar problems with these units. Do a web search for reviews and opinions and check it out yourself! Looks to me like a rush to the marketplace before this unit was totally thought out. I can see why they just introduced a big rebate on this garbage!
