Amazing quality at this price point -- or above. September 15, 2007 Jon R. Rutherford (Kansas City, MO United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I halfway expected this lens to be a disappointment, but, for a lens, the price is laughably low, so I decided to give it a try. It fits both my Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ7 camera and my newer Pentax K100D DSLR. The images are sharp and detailed, within the limits of a fisheye lens, which by its nature produces what appears to our eyes to be distortion (actually, the lens is seeing perfectly well, but it's so different from our eyes' lenses, and our normal way of seeing, that we interpret the result as distortion). Yes, there is some fringing and vignetting, but if you're not going to spend over a thousand dollars on a lens, you're always going to have that -- and maybe even if you DO spend a large amount. My photos got favorable comments on Flickr. One person suggested I should post more of the fisheye photos. A bonus is that the rear element unscrews and acts as a very sharp macro lens. Focus carefully, preferably using a tripod, and you can end up with some impressive close-ups. Be aware that, if you use this lens attached to a zoom lens, you will need to keep the zoom lens at its minimum focal length, in order to get the full fisheye effect. I am completely happy with this lens, much to my surprise. It is solidly made, another thing I didn't expect, and has a protective glass in front of the actual lens, which unavoidably cuts down on light transmission, but I'm glad to see it there. This lens is a lot of fun, and I've already had well more than my money's worth out of it.
Wonderful Lens March 13, 2008 L. Borza (Virginia Beach) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First off i would like to say when I first ordered this item, it never showed, maybe they forgot to ship it. When I called they were very nice and they told me they would send another one for next day delivery (no extra cost) I received it yesterday and I was trilled. not only did it fit, but I have a DMC-FZ8. I put it on and it was a perfect fit. the only flaw is that my camera's flash isn't tall enough and because the lens extends so much it causes a shadow. but that is the least on my worries. im very pleased with the photos it takes with the fisheye distortion, and it's VERY cheap so well worth getting. here are two pictures i took: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/chels31889/fisheye/P1000758-1.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v610/chels31889/fisheye/P1000763-1.jpg
Good as expected September 24, 2008 Kilder Pires (RJ, Brazil) The only thing I would say I did not like was that it was needed a ring adapter on my DMC Z7 and this cause the lens borders appear on picture
